AI search — find anything by asking in plain language

Memol's AI search lets you ask questions like 'What did we decide last month about pricing?' and get answers pulled from across your notes.

AI search is the most powerful feature in Memol. Ask "What did we agree on with Acme last month?" and it pulls relevant notes and answers.

How to launch

Three entry points:

  1. Top bar — click "Ask AI"
  2. Keyboard shortcut — ⌘ + K (Mac) / Ctrl + K (Windows)
  3. Mobile app — search icon

How it differs from keyword search

Keyword search matches strings literally. AI search understands meaning, so it handles synonyms, rephrasing, and contextual queries.

QueryKeyword searchAI search
"expense policy"only notes containing "expense policy"also surfaces "reimbursement", "T&E", related drafts
"summarize last month's meetings"not possiblepulls relevant notes and produces a summary
"Tanaka's open deals"every note mentioning Tanakaonly deals where Tanaka is owner

Asking good questions

❌ Too short

"meeting"

Returns dozens of notes — useless.

✅ Specific context

"What was decided in the meeting with Yamada Trading last month about delivery date and amount?"

Returns 1–3 highly relevant notes.

Query templates

  • When + with whom + about what: "March interview notes for Sarah"
  • Topic + historical examples: "How have we handled customer complaints before?"
  • Conditions + target: "List opportunities with budget over $50k"

Beyond finding

AI search can also:

  • Summarize: "Summarize this week's meeting notes as bullets"
  • Compare: "Compare Vendor A and Vendor B proposals"
  • Extract actions: "Pull action items from this week's meetings"
  • Draft: "Draft a progress email based on Project X notes"

Limitations

  • Permissions respected — Notes in folders you can't access are excluded from results.
  • Free plan: 5 queries / week — Unlimited on PRO and up.
  • No training on your data — Per Anthropic's policy, inputs are not used for model training.
