Photo memo — shoot business cards & whiteboards, get searchable notes

Memol's Photo memo transcribes business cards, whiteboards, handwriting, and handouts into notes. How to use it, automatic card structuring, daily limits, and tips for clean reads.

Paper disappears the moment it lands in your camera roll. Photo memo turns a photo into a searchable note — just shoot.

How to use

  1. Open the create menu (+) and pick Photo memo
  2. Take a photo (camera) or Choose a photo (library)
  3. AI reads the text (a few seconds)
  4. Review: adjust the title, optionally add a quick memo (e.g. "met at the expo, follow up in Sept")
  5. Save as note — photo + memo + transcription land in one note

From there it's a normal note: full-text search, Ask AI, automatic tagging, and team sharing all apply.

What it reads

TypeResult
Business cardsName / company / title / phone / email, labeled. Title = "Name (Company)"
WhiteboardsGroupings and arrows preserved as headings & lists
HandwritingRead with context, even when messy
Handouts & receiptsFull text, faithfully

Faithfulness first: illegible characters appear as ▢ and the AI never fabricates. You always review before saving.

Daily limits

Resets at midnight JST.

Tips for clean reads

  • Shoot straight-on, avoiding shadows and glare
  • One subject per photo (one card at a time) reads best
  • Use Retake on the review screen as many times as you like
  • For small corrections, saving first and editing the note directly is fastest

FAQ

Q. Where is the photo stored?

A. Embedded at the top of the same note as the transcription — the original is always one tap away.

Q. Is my content used to train AI?

A. No. The models we use are operated under no-training policies.

Q. Can I import multiple photos at once?

A. One photo per note for now — shoot card stacks one at a time.
